Key cookie points (quick summary)
- Without your consent we set no analytics cookies: our measurement is anonymous and cookieless.
- If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, PostHog sets cookies and may record your session, with the text you type masked.
- A few cookies are needed for the site to work: your cookie choice, signing in to your booking page, and the partner whose link brought you here.
- We use no advertising or remarketing cookies.
- You can change your choice at any time through “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, exactly which ones we use, and how you can manage them.
Cookie Policy
Last updated: 06.10.2026
This Cookie Policy explains how SkipperCity (Blackbird One Ltd.) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data.
1. What are cookies?
In short: small files and browser entries that help a site remember something.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, smartphone or tablet). Browser storage (“local storage”, and “session storage”, which lasts until you close the tab) works in a similar way, but its contents stay in your browser and are not sent to the website with every request. In this policy, “cookies” covers both.
2. Cookies the site needs to work
In short: set without asking, because the site cannot do what you asked without them.
These are set by us, on our own domain, only when you use the feature they belong to:
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| sc_analytics_consent | Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics in the cookie banner | Until you change your choice or clear your browser storage |
| sc_portal | Cookie | Keeps you signed in to your booking page after you open the sign-in link we email you | 30 days, renewed while you use the page; removed when you sign out |
| sc_partner | Cookie | Keeps an affiliate partner signed in to the partner dashboard | 30 days, renewed while the partner uses the dashboard; removed on sign-out |
| sc.recentDestinations.v1 | Local storage | Remembers the last destinations you chose in the search, so you can pick them again | Until you clear your browser storage |
| sc-checkout:… | Session storage | Lets a checkout you started in this tab pick up again after a reload or a card payment | Until you close the tab |
| sc_pay_token:… | Session storage | Keeps the pay link from your booking email working in this tab after it is removed from the address bar | Until you close the tab |
| sc_partner_payout_draft | Local storage | Keeps an affiliate partner’s unsaved payout details form, so a reload does not lose it | Up to one hour; removed when the form is saved or the partner signs out |
3. The referral cookie
In short: if a partner’s link brought you here, we remember which partner, so they can be paid if you book.
Some partners link to us with a referral code in the address. Arriving on such a link stores one cookie:
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| sc_aff | Cookie | Records which partner sent you, so the partner earns a commission if you later book | 12 months, or until you clear your cookies |
It holds the partner’s code and nothing about you — no name, no email address, no browsing history. It is never shared with the partner or any other company, and it is not used for advertising or profiling. We also record that the visit happened, with the page you landed on and the site you came from, both without their query text.
4. Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
In short: off until you accept them in the banner.
We use PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the EU, to understand how visitors search for and look at boats and where the site goes wrong.
- Before you choose, and if you decline: measurement is anonymous and kept in memory only. No cookie is set and nothing is stored in your browser, so we cannot recognise you on a later visit.
- If you accept: PostHog stores an identifier in a cookie named after our project (beginning ph_) and in local storage, so it can recognise your browser on later visits, and it may record your session — the pages you see and what you click — with the text you type masked. The cookie lasts up to one year.
If you later decline, the PostHog cookie and storage are cleared and recording stops.
5. Other services on our pages
In short: a few outside services, most of them only when you click.
- Stripe – if you pay by card, you do so on Stripe’s own payment page, where Stripe’s cookie policy applies. Stripe sets no cookies on our pages.
- Cloudflare Turnstile – a check on some of our forms that tells people from automated abuse. Cloudflare receives technical information about your browser to make that check.
- Google Fonts – our fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. No cookie is set for this.
- Tripadvisor and OpenStreetMap – our Tripadvisor reviews and our maps load only when you click to show them. These services may then use their own cookies under their own policies.
6. Managing your choice
In short: you are in control, and the site works fully either way.
When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. You can change your answer at any time through the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Declining changes nothing about what the site can do for you.
You can also manage cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block them for one site or for all sites; you will usually find this under “Settings” or “Privacy & Security”. Blocking the cookies in section 2 will sign you out of your booking page and make the site forget your choices.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
In short: we update this page whenever our use of cookies changes.
We update this Cookie Policy when we add, change or remove a cookie, change a provider, or when the law requires it. The updated version is published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a change needs your consent, we will ask for it again.
8. Contact us
In short: you can always reach out with questions.
