  11. FAQ – Charter Offers Croatia

When guests ask us about charter offers in Croatia, they usually do not only mean the biggest discount. They mean the best combination of yacht quality, dates, route and support – at a price that feels fair. Charter offers and discounts are one of the tools we use to get you there, but they need to be understood properly.

This page is your hub for understanding how charter offers work with SkipperCity. We will walk through early booking discounts, last minute deals, special offers by yacht type and season, and how to read the small print so you know exactly what you are getting. From here you can jump directly into real boats in the Boat Search, read our guides to top deals and the best price, or explore dedicated sections for catamarans, sailboats, motor yachts and luxury yachts.

How Charter Offers Work With SkipperCity

SkipperCity is not a last-minute dumping site and we are not trying to push the cheapest boats on the list. Instead we connect you with professional charter fleets and owners across Croatia and help you navigate the offers they publish through the season.

In practice this means:

  • We read every charter company’s prices and discounts from its booking system, refreshed regularly, and show every boat with its discount already taken off the price.
  • Each boat’s page names the discount behind its price – early booking, last minute or a special discount – and shows the list price it comes off.
  • We help you compare a discounted boat with a full-price but higher-quality option, so you can choose value, not just a percentage sign.

Types of Yacht Charter Offers in Croatia

Croatian charter companies run three kinds of discount: early booking (about 10–30 %, deepest for the earliest bookings), last minute (15–40 % inside four weeks, mostly outside July and August) and, on many boats, a long-stay discount for two weeks or more (often 5 %, around 10 % from three weeks). Off-season weeks are cheaper because the list price is lower, not because of a discount, and a one-way charter usually costs a fee rather than saving money. Which discounts combine is each charter company's own rule; the price in our search already has the ones it applies taken off.

Most offers fall into a few clear categories. Knowing the difference helps you time your booking and understand what kind of flexibility you need.

  • Early booking discounts: For guests who reserve their yacht months in advance.
  • Last minute deals: For flexible travellers who can decide close to departure.
  • Boat-specific promotions: Discounts on particular models or new additions to a fleet.
  • Base-specific offers: Deals a charter company runs at one marina or for one week.
  • Seasonal reductions: Lower base prices in shoulder months such as May, June, September and October.

If you want to know which of these lies behind a particular price, ask us – the answer tells you whether the offer is likely to stay or may disappear quickly.

The discounts, and where you see them

OfferTypical sizeWhere you see it
Early booking10 – 30 %Already taken off the price in our search for the weeks it covers
Last minute (inside 4 weeks)15 – 40 %Already taken off the price in our search; mostly outside July and August
Long stay (2 weeks or more)often 5 %, about 10 % from 3 weeksThe charter company's own offer on many boats; it decides whether it applies to your booking
Off-season (April, May, October)35 – 55 % below peakA lower list price, not a discount
One-wayusually a feeOnly if the charter company allows it — ask us

Every price in our search already has the discount its charter company applies for that week taken off, so what you compare is the final number rather than a headline rate with an asterisk. Which discounts combine is the charter company's own rule, not a market-wide one.

Early Booking Discounts – Why Planning Ahead Pays Off

In Croatia, early booking discounts are the most reliable way to save money on a quality yacht – especially for catamarans and larger boats. Fleets usually open bookings for the next season in autumn, with incentives that gradually decrease as prime summer weeks fill up. Our early booking guide goes into the timing in detail.

Typical patterns:

  • Autumn & winter offers: 10–30% discounts for bookings confirmed by specific dates.
  • Spring refinement: Smaller discounts as only certain weeks remain; still good for June and September.
  • High-season scarcity: For late decisions in July and August, the “discount” is often simply finding a good boat at all.

If you already know your travel window and departure area, send the quote form early: the boats email prices each boat with the early booking discount its charter company currently applies, and you can browse the same boats from the Yacht Charter Croatia hub.

Last Minute Deals – When Flexible Dates Help

Last minute deals can be tempting, and sometimes they are genuinely excellent – but they are not a guaranteed strategy. They work best when you are flexible on dates, embarkation marina and yacht model, and when you can accept a bit less choice. Inside four weeks of departure they typically take 15–40 % off, mostly outside July and August. Our last minute guide explains when it pays off and when it does not.

Good conditions for last minute bookings:

  • You can travel outside peak weeks, for example late June or early September.
  • You are open to different bases such as Split, Trogir, Šibenik or Zadar.
  • You care more about being on the water than about a specific brand-new model or exact cabin layout.

If this sounds like you, send the quote form: within about five minutes it emails the boats still free for your week, each checked live with its charter company, instead of letting you scroll through hundreds of random last minute banners.

Special Offers by Yacht Type

Offers also vary by yacht category. Understanding this helps you set realistic expectations and spot which deals are real opportunities – our special offers guide explains each kind in more detail.

Catamaran Offers

Modern catamarans are in high demand in Croatia. In peak season the best units in the 40–50 ft range rarely stay empty long, so true last minute bargains are rare. Most savings come from early booking discounts and lower off-season prices.

If you want a catamaran, start by browsing our Catamarans section and then ask us directly about current offers for your dates.

Sailboat Offers

Monohull sailboats have a bit more price range and more units on the market. You may find attractive offers even closer to departure, especially for classic 3- and 4-cabin models. They are a good option if you value sailing performance and do not need the space of a catamaran.

For inspiration visit the Sailboats page, which links to the boat search for your dates.

Motor Yacht & Power Catamaran Offers

Motor yachts and power catamarans sit higher in the budget but occasionally come with very strong promotions, especially on less obvious weeks or when owners want to encourage bookings for a new model. Because fuel usage is higher, look at the total trip cost, not only the boat price – the boats email estimates fuel, crew and marinas on top.

You can explore these yachts through Motor Yachts and Power Catamarans.

Gulet & Luxury Yacht Offers

For gulets, motorsailers and fully crewed luxury yachts, a published discount is rarer, many are priced on request, and what is included varies from yacht to yacht. Ask us what a particular boat includes; browse them under Gulets & Motorsailers and Luxury Yachts.

One-Way & Off-Season Offers

Two things here are about routes and seasons rather than percentage discounts – and only one of them saves money.

  • One-way trips: Possible only where the charter company allows it, usually for a one-way fee – ask us. It makes a fine itinerary from Split or Trogir to Dubrovnik.
  • Off-season weeks: May, early June, late September and October bring softer prices, quieter marinas and often great conditions for sailing – see the weather by month. You will see the lower prices across our boat listings, and the charter prices guide compares each season.

If your schedule allows, planning around these patterns can give you both better prices and a calmer experience on the water.

How to Read a Charter Offer – What’s Included & What’s Extra

Two offers can show the same base price but differ widely in what they include. To compare fairly, you need to look beyond the bold discount number.

Key things to check:

  • Is the discount applied to the base charter fee only, or also to extras such as transit log or skipper?
  • Which items are compulsory extras at check-in (cleaning, linen, tourist tax)?
  • What is the security deposit and is deposit insurance offered?
  • Does the offer require non-refundable payment or have stricter cancellation terms?

Our Charter Extras page explains these items in more detail; to weigh a discount percentage see what makes a deal good, and to compare two quotes on the total see comparing offers. Every boat page on this site lists them for your week in clear language so that there are no hidden surprises behind an attractive percentage.

A complete offer names all of this

  • The exact boat: model, year, cabin and heads layout.
  • The exact marina, not just the city.
  • The transit log, final cleaning and tourist tax as figures.
  • The security deposit and the price of the damage waiver.
  • Which discount has been applied and what the list price was.

Ask before you compare it

  • "Extras payable at base" with no amount attached.
  • A percentage off, with no list price to check it against.
  • No deposit mentioned anywhere.
  • A model name with no year — a 2016 and a 2024 of the same boat are different holidays.
  • A crewed offer with no APA line; the fuel and berths are somewhere.

Using the SkipperCity Search & Filter Tools

On the website you will find simple tools to focus on the offers that matter to you instead of scanning every boat in Croatia.

  • Boat Search: The Boat Search page lets you set dates, crew size and yacht type, then highlights discounted boats for those parameters.
  • Filters by destination: Start from the Destinations section and filter boats near Split, Zadar, Šibenik, Dubrovnik, Istria or Kvarner.
  • Itineraries: Use a route from our itineraries as a base, then ask us which boats are free for those weeks.

If any of this feels too technical, you can also ignore the filters completely and simply send the quote form with your dates, group size and preferred starting area: within about five minutes it emails up to 40 boats that fit, each checked live with its charter company.

Example Savings for Typical Crews

Every case is different, but a few simple examples show how offers can influence your total budget.

  • Family catamaran in June: Early booking discount of 10–20% on a 40–45 ft catamaran typically takes several hundred to well over a thousand euros off a June week – enough to cover the flights for one or two people.
  • Monohull sailing week in September: Combination of lower seasonal price and a targeted fleet discount may mean a modern 3-cabin boat costs similar to an older model without promotions.
  • Motor yacht in shoulder weeks: Outside July and August a motor yacht’s list price is typically 10–30 % below peak – about 10 % in June, nearer 30 % in May and October – and the saving matters more once you add the fuel a fast boat burns.

Each boat’s page names the discount in its price – early booking, last minute or a special discount – so you know why a particular offer looks the way it does.

How to Secure an Offer Before It Expires

Offers are always linked to time and sometimes to the number of remaining boats. To avoid disappointment it helps to understand how options and deadlines typically work.

The usual rhythm:

  • You pick a boat and week – on its page, or from the boats email.
  • You place a free option (a hold) online, or we place it for you. The charter company sets how long it lasts; the exact deadline is on your booking page and in your email.
  • Within that time you review the contract and payment schedule and either confirm by paying the first instalment or let the option go.

If an offer has a hard deadline set by the fleet, we will always communicate it clearly. Our goal is to give you enough time to think without losing the yacht you were excited about.

FAQ – Charter Offers Croatia

Are discounts negotiable?

No. The price is the charter company’s own, with the discount it applies for your week already taken off, and where a SkipperCity discount applies it comes off on top as its own line. If the charter company adds a discount to an option you already hold, the whole saving goes to you.

Do discounts apply to extras like a skipper?

Usually the charter company’s discount applies only to the boat price, not to the extras. Our own skipper and cook each cost from 2.100 € a week – where the charter company’s own crew costs more, its price is the floor. Each boat’s page lists what is included and what each extra costs for your week.

Is it better to wait for last minute or book early?

If you need specific dates (school holidays, fixed annual leave) or want a modern catamaran or larger yacht, booking early is almost always better. If you are flexible on everything except “somewhere warm on a boat”, then last minute can work. We can talk openly about which scenario fits your situation.

Can we combine different offers?

Which discounts combine is the charter company’s rule, not ours. The price in our search already has every discount it applies for your week taken off, and where a SkipperCity discount applies it comes off on top as its own line – one final price rather than a confusing list of percentages.

How do we start finding the right offer?

The simplest step is to choose rough dates and a starting point in the Destinations section, then send us a short message through our quote form. Within about five minutes the boats email brings real boats priced for your week, not just generic promises of “up to” discounts.
