Our Partners

We own no yachts. We book the charter companies whose boats lie in Croatian marinas – every one of them – and we tell you which of them we would choose.

Why partnerships matter in yacht charter

Behind every smooth week on a yacht there is a quiet network of people and companies who make it possible: charter companies and their bases, marinas, transfer drivers, provisioning services, mechanics and the booking systems they all run on. SkipperCity would not exist without them.

This page is a transparent look at how we choose the charter companies we recommend and what kind of cooperation we believe in. If you are a guest, it shows what stands behind the boat you book. If you are a potential partner, it explains what to expect from a skipper-run agency like SkipperCity.

The charter companies whose boats we book

SkipperCity owns no boats. We book the yachts of the charter companies that run catamarans, sailboats, motor yachts, power catamarans and luxury yachts from Croatian marinas – and the boat search shows every one of them, whichever company runs it.

We do not recommend every company, though. Over the years we narrowed our recommendations to the ones that consistently look after their yachts, treat guests fairly and back the skipper when something unexpected happens. Their boats come first in the search’s default order and carry a Recommended badge that says why – nothing else is hidden or pushed down out of sight.

Typical signs that a company belongs on that list: clean handovers, professional base staff, clear communication about the deposit, fast reaction to technical problems and guest satisfaction that lasts – the kind that shows in reviews.

How we choose and review partners

We book across the Croatian charter fleets rather than one operator's stock, which is why the search shows the whole market. What decides whether we recommend a company is not its commission but its maintenance record, how it handles a problem mid-charter, and whether its check-in runs on time — the three things a customer feels and a website never shows.

We recommend only companies that we and our skippers have reviewed ourselves: we have used their services, sailed their boats and know their bases and marinas. A recommendation is not fixed forever – what our skippers and guests tell us keeps it under review.

Operational quality and maintenance

We watch how companies maintain their boats and manage turnaround days. Cleanliness, working equipment, honest explanations and visible investment in maintenance are the strongest signals that a partner takes its responsibilities seriously.

Communication and problem-solving

Things sometimes go wrong at sea – pumps fail, fridges break, weather closes a harbour. What matters is how quickly and calmly a base reacts. The companies we recommend pick up the phone, listen to the skipper and work towards a solution instead of an excuse.

Long-term guest satisfaction

We track what our guests tell us and what they write on independent platforms. When a base keeps receiving quiet compliments, we recommend it more; when complaints start to repeat, we step back and stop recommending that company.

What we check before we recommend a charter company

We look atWhat good looks likeWhy it matters to you
Maintenance and boat age policyBoats serviced between charters, not between seasonsThe commonest cause of a ruined week is a mechanical failure
Check-in punctualityBoat ready at the advertised hourA late handover costs you the first evening
How they handle a fault mid-charterSomeone comes out, or a replacement part reaches youThis is what separates fleets, not the brochure
Deposit and damage practicePhotographs at check-in, itemised at check-outWhere disputes actually happen
Extras priced honestlyTransit log and cleaning in line with the marketA cheap boat with inflated extras is not cheap

When a company stops meeting these we stop recommending it, whatever the commission. That is the whole substance of our advice: the search shows you every boat, and the Recommended badge is where we say which of them we would put our own families on.

Local partners along the coast

Besides charter companies, our guests rely on local services along the coast – transfer drivers, provisioning, marinas and the small family-run konobas where crews eat. We choose the ones we suggest the way we choose charter companies: through experience, skipper recommendations and guest feedback.

A good transfer driver waits calmly when a flight is late and knows the quickest way to the marina; a good restaurant honours a reservation, treats crew and guests with respect and offers honest value. When a destination or route page names a place, it is because it has worked for our guests and skippers.

Technology and booking systems

Modern yacht charter runs on booking technology. We work with the booking system the Croatian charter companies keep their boats in, which is how the search shows availability, synced from the charter companies on a regular schedule, and how the boats in a reply to your enquiry are each checked live with their company before they reach you. Payments run through established payment providers, and our privacy policy names every service that handles your data.

Media, content and referral partners

Over time SkipperCity has worked with travel writers, bloggers, local photographers and small agencies who share our interest in calm, real-world sailing information. Some contribute photos or guides; others send us sailors through our affiliate programme.

We treat these as long-term relationships, not one-off campaigns. When someone sends guests our way, we honour that trust by looking after them well.

What partners can expect from us

Working with a skipper-run agency is different from working with a large portal: we put real attention into matching the right boat and company to the right crew.

Clear, realistic communication

We do not promise impossible itineraries or oversell what a boat can do. Offers rest on realistic expectations of comfort, speed and weather – which means fewer misunderstandings at check-in and more satisfied guests at check-out.

Guests who understand what they are booking

Our guides explain the difference between bareboat, skippered and crewed charters, the full cost guide sets out realistic budgets, and a person answers any question a guest sends before booking. Partners receive crews who arrive informed and prepared.

Honest feedback after the season

We pass on relevant guest and skipper feedback so partners know what is working and where there is room to improve. It raises the standard for everyone over time.

What we look for in new partners

Respect for guests and crew

We prefer people who treat guests, skippers and staff fairly – in good weeks and in difficult ones. Calm communication on a busy August Saturday and flexibility when things change at short notice are worth more than any marketing budget.

Transparency and straightforward terms

Clear contracts, pricing and commission structures keep relationships simple. We avoid arrangements that would set what is best for guests against what is best for partners.

A long-term view

Our best partnerships have grown over many seasons. We are interested in cooperation that still feels right in five years, not a quick win for one.

FAQ – charter companies and partners

Do you own the boats you rent?

No. Every boat on the site belongs to a charter company, and your charter contract is with that company; we are the agent who finds, books and looks after it. We are paid a commission by the charter company, and paying by bank transfer you never pay more than booking direct (a card adds 5 %).

Why do some boats say Recommended?

Because they belong to charter companies we and our skippers know first-hand – we have sailed their boats and used their bases: their boats are properly maintained, handed over ready to sail, and guests are looked after from enquiry to check-out. It is our own list, not something generated from your search, and those boats come first in the default order.

Can I book a boat from a company you do not recommend?

Yes. Every boat in the search can be booked, and we look after the booking just the same. If you ask, we will tell you honestly what we know about that company.

Do you earn more on recommended boats?

That is not how a company gets the badge: it is earned by how the company maintains its boats and treats guests, and we stop recommending a company that slips, whatever its commission. The price you pay is the charter company’s own either way.

How can my company work with SkipperCity?

Write to us on the contact page and say it is about a partnership: a link to your company or project, the regions you cover and how you think we might complement each other. We reply with a calm, skipper-level view of what we can realistically do together.
